From Ocean Microbes to Human Longevity

Bridging Our Origins with Our Future

The Oceanic Science Institute (OSI) began its work in 2012 in Japan, supported by leading scientists from Japan and Europe who recognized the vital role of the marine microbiome in human health and planetary sustainability.

Its members — scientists, professors, and researchers — are dedicated to advancing and sharing knowledge on marine microbial ecosystems, ocean‑derived metabolites, and their impact on human biology and longevity.

OSI’s mission is to strengthen collaboration among experts across diverse fields, fostering an integrated understanding of how the ocean microbiome connects environmental science with human health and the future of nutrition.
